Very pleased to announce our first event at The Star Music Bar, Westgate, Bradford 🙂 We have a fab line up for you…if it’s successful we hope to continue on a bi- monthly basis, so would be great to see as many of you as possible come out to support live Blues & Roots in Bradford
Hayley Gaftarnick, is an independent singer/song-writer from Leeds. Her husky and powerful voice tells honest and frank stories of a road well travelled. Whilst being inspired by some of the great names of soul and blues, such as Otis Reading, Donny Hathaway, Etta James and Aretha Franklin, Gaftarnick manages to create a sound that is both familiar and yet truly unique.
Having been recognised as one of Leeds’ favourite solo performers, she has established a fan-base far beyond her home city.
Harmonica master and guitarist Sleepy Kev Bishop plays traditional blues, country and gospel with an engaging personality and gentle humour.
Host Ben “Blue” Waters is an acoustic slide guitarist playing blues classics by Howling Wolf, Son House, John Lee Hooker, Captain Beefheart and many more, from the 1920’s to the present, and also a few of his own songs. He has been a gigging musician since the late 1970’s, and plays regularly around the North of England and beyond. Ben’s set will feature a guest appearance from Chris Dover of the Hoodoo Operators. Chris is on a mission to play 100 gigs in 48 days to raise awareness for The Swan Song project, and he weill sit in with Ben for a couple of songs
